Know your rights online!

There are loads of different laws that are there to protect young people and also some laws that make young people take responsibility for their actions. We’ve added this section to help give you a bit of a snapshot of your rights as a young person and exactly what you can be accountable for.

Age of consent

The law (according to the Sexual Offences Act 2003) says that anyone under the age of 16 cannot consent to sexual activity. The law says that someone of this age cannot consent and therefore there is NO defence for anyone who is having sex with someone they know is under 16. Anyone who is doing this may be prosecuted. Even if both people are under the age of 16, you can be prosecuted. This might include being put on the sex offenders register and getting a criminal record. (2 of 8)

Rebuilding The Crest Academies

CrestAcademies

Wates Construction was awarded the £37m Crest Academy project in 2011.  The project will see the development of two new Academies in Brent, London.

The new 18,800 sq metre Crest Girls’and Crest Boy’s Academies will consist of four separate buildings, one for girls and one for boys, with the two central buildings housing specialist subjects and sports. Reaching five storeys, each building will offer modern flexible teaching facilities including laboratory and workshop space and two indoor sports halls.  Two multi-use games areas will be provided outside. The Academies as a whole have been arranged around a full height atrium in order to maximise natural light.

Excellent Behaviour on 332 Bus

We would like to congratulate all the boys that travelled on the 332 bus after school on 08 September 2011. We received an encouraging letter from a member of public that travelled on the same bus. See below:

Dear Head

I can hardly believe that I have been moved to write to you.  I came home this afternoon on the upper deck of the 332 bus (heading towards Paddington) to see a sea of pupils about to board the bus just before 4pm.  My heart sank.  My usual experience of a bus filling with secondary school children after school, especially on the upper deck, is of a very noisy and occasionally intimidating ride.
