A brand new start for The Crest Boys' Academy

 A New Start

September saw the launch of The Crest Boys' Academy's new brand identity. A group of students from across years 7 to 10 worked with branding agency Happy Giraffe Limited, to think about what becoming an academy meant to them, what a brand is all about, the story behind their academy and the type of colours and imagery they would like to see.

Happy Giraffe took the ideas generated by students and came back with three alternatives based on their thoughts. The whole student body then undertook voting in yhear assemblies to select the winning design.

The winning theme was 'diversity'. The story behind this is based on the fact that the academy has people from all different cultures and backgrounds. This makes the acdemy special and is an important part of the new identity.

The logo incorporates three coloured rings that not only give a sense of the diversity of students and staff but each represents one of the three elements that makes up The Crest Academies - Boys, Girls and Sixth Form. It is designed to also show the dynamic nature of the new academy whilst reflecting several ideas including Venn diagrams used in maths and science to demonstrate sets and a certain iconic local landmark.
